Miss S Cochran

I grew up in central Illinois near the small town of Mt. Pulaski. Until I went to college I always lived in the country and during high school I spent my summers working in corn fields for a local seed company. Both of my parents are teachers, so I have always had an interest in education and children.
Living in Chicago is definitely a change from rural Illinois but I am not unfamiliar with the city. I have three siblings who live here and after my Junior year of college I spent the summer in Chicago, working as an intern with a local book publishing company.
I graduated in May from Illinois State University with a degree in English Publishing Nonprofit Literary Arts with a focus in writing. I am very interested in writing children’s literature and am currently awaiting a copyright for a children’s book that I recently wrote and hope to publish. Illinois State University is actually ranked number one in children's literature in the United States.
During college I spent a semester as an intern at Walt Disney World in Florida. It was an unforgettable experience that exposed me to people from all over the world, strengthening both my social and leadership skills.
I am excited to have joined the staff at the British School of Chicago and am looking forward to a great year!
