I studied for both my first degree as well as my PGCE in Physical Education at Sheffield Hallam University before beginning my teaching career at New Hall School in Chelmsford, Essex a private girls school. I taught here for two and a half years, during which time it went through extensive restructuring both whole school and within the PE Department. Going from a girls only 11-18 school to a co-educational environment where boys and girls were taught separately from Year 7-11 and the mixed in the Sixth form. It was here that I was able to develop my subject knowledge in PE, taking on new courses such as AS and A Level PE, whilst developing my teaching skills in a variety of practical sports. I was in charge of Netball at the school and ran six teams across the age groups. In addition to this I organized all of the girls’ sports fixtures throughout the school year – a big challenge!

During my time at New Hall I was able to plan, organize and lead a ski trip for 40 pupils. It was the first for many years and is now a permanent fixture on the school calendar. Since I left New Hall I have been working for Disney Cruise Line in the Youth Activities department cruising the Bahamas and working with children age predominantly 2-7. It was a new challenge which was thoroughly enjoyable and an excellent experience for me. i look forward to implementing some of the games and activities at BSC.

I am very excited about my move to Chicago and cannot wait to get involved with school life and start to develop the PE Department. I am looking forward to introducing new sports – such as Netball to the school as well as developing existing ones. I look forward to meeting the staff and students both old and new and becoming part of their life at BSC.
