Miss. F Johnson
Chemistry and French

I was born in Manchester and at the age of 18 moved north to Scotland where I studied Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. I gained my Master’s degree in Chemistry in 2005, having spent 4 years studying at Edinburgh and one year at the Université de Franche Comté in France. Having graduated I returned to France and spent a further 6 months living and working in the provincial town of Dijon where I taught English to trainee teachers. I spent many a weekend out and about exploring the villages in the surrounding Burgundy region and sampling local specialties, including Dijon mustard and snails!
Once back in the UK I started teaching Science at a High school on the outskirts of Manchester. I thoroughly enjoy teaching Science, especially the practical aspect of the subject. I currently have responsibility for coursework at Key Stage 5 and am a mentor to a small group of pupils aged 11 – 16. I am really looking forward to my role in Chicago and to meeting the students and continuing to enthuse their learning in science and especially chemistry and French.
In my spare time I attend French classes where I keep up to date with French current affairs and film releases etc. I also like going to the gym and visiting new places and will be spending a few weeks travelling with friends in Asia before moving to Chicago.
