I grew up in a small town outside Glasgow in Scotland but I spent some time living and working in London before starting my university degree. I attended the University of Strathclyde from 2000-2004 and graduated with First Class Honours in Primary Education. I have had experience of teaching across various stages of the primary school but in recent years my experience has been in the early years. I currently teach a Primary One class (age 4/5) in a school in Glasgow and although I am sad to leave my current post, I am really looking forward to moving to Chicago and taking up my post in the nursery.

Throughout my teaching career I have been involved in various initiatives with the most recent being Active Learning in the Early Years. I have also been involved in an action research project on Formative Assessment and look forward to implementing the strategies in my new post in The British School of Chicago.

I am always keen to become involved in all aspects of school life. In my present post I have taken responsibility for organising and delivering an annual ‘Aerobathon’ to raise school funds, played a key role in staging and organising the infant department Holiday Show and run a voluntary after-school club for 9-10 year olds where I incorporate my dance training into an aerobics/fitness class.

My four years teaching experience in Scotland have been very rewarding but I feel ready for a change and a new challenge. I am really excited about coming to Chicago, meeting new pupils, parents and colleagues, experiencing different culture and lifestyle and contributing to the continued succcess of the British School of Chicago.
