Mr. D Thomas
I am a 24 years old from Caerphilly, a small town of South Wales. I enrolled in the University of Wales Newport to complete a vocational BA Honours Degree in Primary Education with combined QTS. My specialist subject is Art.
Following my graduation in June 2006, I began my teaching career.
Presently, I am teaching at Blackwood Primary School as a Class teacher in a year three class. I have held this position for the past year and have really enjoyed the responsibility of extending a year group across an academic year and charting their progress.
I am an avid rugby fan and enjoying supporting Newport Gwent Dragons, and of course the Welsh National Squad. I have always been involved in co-ordinating mixed gender and age group after school clubs, including rugby. I will relish the chance to share my love of my national sport with my new pupils and hope they will enlighten me to the joys of some of their national sports!
I am very much looking forward to coming to Chicago in August and to meeting my new colleagues and working along side them. I am most looking forward to meeting my pupils and their parents at the start of the new term.
I view this as a wonderful opportunity - not only to further my teaching experience but also to offer the children of the British School of Chicago my teaching skills and the chance to embrace the great sport of Welsh rugby!
