Bradley Jenks
Voice Tutor

Brad Jenks has been involved in music since his early years.
Since playing the title role in Amahl and the Night Visitors as a youth, he went on to portray Caleb in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Enoch Snow Jr. in Carousel and performed as a member of the Illinois Opera Theatre ensemble in productions of Carmen, La Cenerentola, The Magic Flute, Madama Butterfly, L'elisir d'amore, La traviata and The Merry Widow.
He has been a frequent recitalist and was featured regularly as a soloist with the Sunday Singers, culminating in the tenor solo in the 1998 performance of the Vivaldi Beatus Vir. He studied voice privately under Master Teacher William Miller, Professor Emeritus of the University of Illinois, until his passing in 1998. At that time, Mr. Jenks' talents were recognized by a number of international artists and he was invited to travel as an apprentice throughout Europe and the United States. This experience gave him firsthand knowledge of the creative workings of major opera houses, among them Glyndebourne Festival, Welsh National Opera, Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels and Santa Fe Opera. He then went on to work administratively at the Festival Lyrique de Belle-Ile-en-Mer in France and Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York.
Most recently, he worked in the Music Department at Florida Grand Opera, acting primarily as the Audition Coordinator and managing the In-School Opera tour as well as serving, for a short time, as the interim Company Manager. While working at Florida Grand Opera he also maintained a private voice studio in Miami.
He currently lives and teaches in Champaign, Illinois. He spends his time between Champaign and Chicago, where he also teaches privately and for the British School. In addition to private instruction, Mr. Jenks offers and has given Masterclasses and Vocal Advising on musical productions, most recently Sondheim’s Into the Woods and Champaign Urbana Theater Company’s production of Ragtime. He stepped back onto the stage as a member of the ensemble in CUTC’s Beauty and the Beast, going on to play Reuben in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and working as Music Director for the upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors.
