Hayley Roberts joined the faculty at the British School of Chicago in August 2003. She studied at the University of Wales in Cardiff and in 2000 she graduated with a BA Hons in Primary Education with QTS (Qualified Teaching Status). She founded the British Music School which opened in 2006, and the newly formed the British School of Language, Art and Music which opened in February 2008.

She has had a varied playing career with brass bands, orchestras and jazz groups both in the United Kingdom and USA. She has studied with the 'Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music' and gained qualifications on the Trumpet, Eb Tenor Horn, French Horn, Saxophone, Percussion and Guitar.

Hayley has had the opportunity to appear in various Welsh and British National finals with various Brass Bands in the UK. She also took part of the Millennium Championships held at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000. While in the UK, she held the Principal horn position with Rogerstone and Tongwynlais Brass Bands. While playing with these bands, she also took part in the French Open Championships gaining 2nd and 3rd places. Her teaching career in the UK, spanned a wide age range of 7 to 18 year olds where she was responsible for the Junior Music department and Senior Jazz ensemble.

Since moving to Chicago five years ago, she played for Prairie Brass Band (2003-2005) as Principal Eb Horn. While playing with this group, she competed in the inaugural US Open Brass Band Championships and the North American Brass Band Championships. She has also taken part as a soloist on behalf of the Prairie Brass band at various music festivals in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. She also spent some time playing Solo tenor horn with Illinois Brass Band during the 2007 - 08 season.

In August 2007, Hayley joined Illinois Brass Band on Solo Horn, who were recently placed 3rd at the National American Brass Band Championships in March of 2007. She is looking forward to competing in the National American Championships in Louisville, Kentucky in March 2008.

She is currently Head the Faculty of Performing Arts and Director of Music at the British School of Chicago where she teaches children aged between 7 and 18. She also directs the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Wind bands, Senior Jazz Band, Junior and Chamber Choir and the Year 3 (2nd grade) Recorder Troupe.
