BMSC Newsflash!
News from BMSC students ...
May 2008: BSC and BMSC students took Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations on April 23rd 2008. All 25 students passed with excellent marks. The following students attained a distinction and special mention from the examiner:
Emma Lichter - Grade 1 Flute - 137
William Kent - Grade 1 Trombone - 133
Rachael Cohen - Grade 4 Percussion - 138
Alwina Schellner - Grade 4 Flute - 136
May 3rd 2008: Rachael Cohen, Anna Rhodes Dai Yao, Hannah Day and Sophie Day played in the Chicago Debut and Preparatory strings concert held at North-Eastern College.
April 2008: ABRSM practical examinations held at BSC.
March 12th 2008: BSC hosted its first Music Performance in the new school building. It involved over 100 pupils aged 7 to 15 and we had an audience of over 400. The schools' three concert bands played, along with the Year 3 recorder troupe.
March 1st 2008: Records numbers of students in Years 6 to 9 took ABRSM theory examinations. We had 100% pass record. A special mention to Alessandro Scazzero who attained 100% in his Grade 1 examination. He is the first BSC student to achieve a perfect score.
January 2008: BMSC moved to its new home at 814 W Eastman St, Chicago, IL 60620
June 2007: ABRSM news...45 students passed ABRSM practical examinations!
June 2007: BMSC French Horn tutor - Julia Zeltzer competes in the Pacific Championship in Japan.
May 2007: Congratulations to the following pupils who have been accepted into Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra programs after auditioning:
Anna Dai Yao Rhodes (Age 7) - Preparatory Strings (Violin)
Chloe Newman (Age 11) - Chicago Youth Debut Orchestra (Percussion)
Rachael Cohen (Age 11) - Chicago Youth Debut Orchestra (Perscussion)
Sophie Day (Age 9) - Chicago Youth Debut Orchestra (Flute)
Hannah Day (Age 9) - Chicago Youth Debut Orchestra (Clarinet)
We look forward to their first concert this coming November.
January 2007: Congratulations BSPA students who took ABRSM practical examinations! Many passed with merit and distinction, the examiner was flown in from England for the 2 days of examining and he was very impressed with all BSPA students, well done!
December 2006: I would like to congratulate all of our students who took their ABRSM theory examinations in October. All passed with Merit and Distinction. Well done!
October 2006: BMSC would like to be the first to congratulate Rachael Cohen and Chloe Newman (Year 6) upon being invited to play with the Chicago Youth Debut Orchestra in the 2006/07 session on tuned and untuned percussion. Chloe and Rachael auditioned for the CYDO during July and they will be two of their youngest members. They are also the first British School of Chicago students to be accepted into the Chicago Youth Debut Orchestra program. We hope that they will be the first of many!
