Miss J Wong

I started my teaching career by gaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Nottingham and then gained my PGCE at the University of Warwick in Primary Education. I also possess a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate and I am also currently in the final year of study for my Master’s Degree in Special Education.
My teaching experiences have ranged from teaching inner-city government schools in England to international British schools in Hong Kong and Taiwan ROC to supporting and co-ordinating summer fun camps for children. I have taught the range of primary aged children as a class teacher and taken on subject leadership roles in English and Science.
I am a keen sportsperson and enjoy all sports but run and swim regularly. Look out for me as I zoom past at the lake front! I love meeting new people and my ability to speak 3 Chinese languages has been particularly useful here. I have enjoyed expanding my skills and joined an ASL group in Chicago and become a member of the local Chinese School community.
Since arriving in Chicago at the beginning of this year, I started at the BSC by teaching Physical Education and had a great time organizing Sports Day. I am now looking forward to becoming a ‘Snake Charmer’ as I lead the SUPER SNAKES class and Year One Team this year. My son and I feel very fortunate to be part of the school’s community and continued growth. Being a parent-educator, I believe ‘School days should be the best days of your life!’ and I aim to engage and inspire all children in challenging educational opportunities with a touch of fun!
