Miss B Whitehead

I was born and educated in South Wales, where I graduated with an honors degree in French and Spanish. During my time in University, I was fortunate to study linguistics at both the University of Malaga in Spain and the University of Bordeaux, France. These experiences increased my passion for learning and teaching languages. Upon my return, I enrolled for a PGCE Primary with French Specialization. Part of the course took me back to France, where I taught a number of French Primary schools in Rouen.
I was very lucky to spend my first year at the British School teaching French and Spanish to Foundation Stage to Year 3. I found the experience extremely rewarding and enjoyable, especially when I heard the children practicing their French and Spanish songs, mes and chants at breaktimes!
I am very excited to start my second year in the British School of Chicago, in Year Five, with the Kangaroo and look forward to planning stimulating and inspiring learning opportunities for the children in my class. I am also delighted to be able to continue teaching Spanish and Latin to Key Stage Two.
Outside of school I have a great love of sports. I play hockey and tennis, swim and practiced judo for my county teams. In the course of last year I also took up the sport of Triathlon and am proud to have sucessfully completed four events, including the Chicago Olympic distance Triathlon! Although, running is more of a psychological challenge for me, this past year I have completed the Soldier Field 10 Miles and more recently, the Chicago Half Marathon as part of the British School of Chicago Teacher's Running Club!
