Miss K Ashley

After working for many years as a manager and trainer for ‘The Body Shop International,' I decided to expand my creative skills by attending university and studying for an ‘Art and Design' degree this led me to study for my Post Graduate Certificate in Education, PGCE, which allowed me to teach art and design to High School students.
I have taught ages 7 to 18, Year 3 to Year 13, in both the state sector and the independent sector within the UK. I am incredibly passionate about art and design and I continue to practice my personal art work through commissions and pleasure. I firmly believe that Art has a major role and purpose to play within a child's education and encourage pupils to listen and value the opinion of others.
Art is an expressive subject, and I believe in allowing pupils to develop not only their artistic skills but also their own personalities offering them an understanding of the world they are living in. I have a great desire for all pupils to achieve and enjoy their education.
Most of my family lives in San Francisco where I have also lived for a year previously which I thoroughly enjoyed and now I am looking forward to joining the staff and children in Chicago and contributing to the schools continued growth and the children's broad experiences.
