Miss G Smith

I am very excited to be entering into my second year of teaching at the British School of Chicago and I am looking forward to leading the excellent Year 2 team this year. I am also responsible for leading the learning of Mathematics and Assessment in Key Stage 1 as well as being the Deputy Leader of Foundation and Key Stage 1.
I was born in Sheffield, England and this is where I studied for my BA (Hons) degree before going to Devon to study for my Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
My first appointment was in a large primary school in the north of England where I taught for four years. I also had school wide responsibility for PE and I had a number of successful sporting teams.
Before joining the team in Chicago I taught at the British School of Houston where I lead Year 4 and had responsibility for Internationalism throughout school.
Since moving to Chicago I have taken up running and this year competed in both the Houston Half Marathon and the Chicago Distance Classic Half Marathon. I will also be taking part in the Chicago Marathon for the first time this year.
I am looking forward to a great year and feel privileged to be teaching the Terrific Tigers at the British School of Chicago.
