Mr A Stone

I was born and raised in Leicester and went to study at Nottingham Trent University in 1998, graduating with an honours degree in Human Geography. After returning home to study for my Post Graduate Certificate of Education at Leicester University, I began my teaching career at Kingsbury High School, a large multi-cultural inner-city London school. After teaching for four years in London, I decided to apply for a teaching position at the British School of Chicago, and arrived in Chicago during the summer of 2006.
Since my arrival, I have designed and delivered Key Stage 3 & 4 Geography and History curriculums, as well as assisting with the development of the PE department. I have travelled to Canada and Costa Rica with our students, to assist with the Modern Foreign Language field trips, and have coached boy’s soccer and girl’s basketball (with both teams finishing as runners-up in the respective leagues) during my time at the British School of Chicago.
Entering my third year in Chicago, my responsibility is to continue to deliver high standards of teaching and learning within Geography, building upon the recent outstanding Geography GCSE results. I am excited by the prospect of launching the BSC ‘Geography In Action’ group, which will comprise of 15 students from year groups 7 & 8. As a group we will utilize the school mini-bus to travel around Chicago, investigating various geographical issues.
This academic year, I am also working with members of the High School staff to review, and develop, our system of praise and rewards. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time teaching in Chicago, and look forward to the year ahead.
