Mr M Davies

In 1995, I graduated with an honours degree in Design and Construction Management from the University of Greenwich, London. The following year I worked as a volunteer for the National Trust looking after the Gower Peninsular near where I lived. In September 1996 I undertook a PGCE in Design Technology at the University of Wales Swansea and qualified as a high school teacher a year later.
I started my teaching career teaching Design Technology and ICT at Hurstmere School, Kent before moving on after a few years to teach Engineering and ICT at Gorseinon College in Swansea. This proved to be valuable experience for me before my last move to St Ilan School, Caerphilly where I worked for 7 years as a Head of Department for Design Technology and as ICT coordinator. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work as Head of House for 6 months during this period.
Whilst teaching and lecturing, I have always maintained a professional manner, yet I have endeavoured to make my lessons fun and exciting for the pupils at the same time. I continue to take great pride in seeing what my students have achieved so far and in how my tutor groups have grown up over the time that I have known them and look forward to continuing this at the British School of Chicago.
