Information and Communication Technology (ICT)


Through the IPC the children learn about applying technology in order to gather, use and exchange information. The children carry out activities where they learn to gather, investigate, communicate and present information. The goals in ICT will be achieved through the children’s work in other subjects.

During Key Stage 1 the children aged 5 to 7 years will learn:

  • How to use ICT in everyday life.
  • To use ICT to organise and classify and present information.
  • To save, enter, retrieve and revise information
  • To work with text, tables, images and sound.
  • To describe what they have done.

During Key Stage 2 the children aged 7 to 11 years will learn:

  • To understand that ICT can be used responsively and creatively to people’s benefit.
  • To use sequences of instruction to control devices and achieve specific outcomes.
  • To find and use stored information from a variety of sources.
  • To use ICT to support and present their work in other subjects.
  • To manipulate and combine different forms of information form different sources.
  • To use ICT to present information in a variety of forms.
